Introduction

Greetings!

On February 15th, 2025, Hiromu Sasaki beat all other meta decks at the Champions League Fukuoka with a rather unusual list. This list included Milotic ex, whose ability protects it from Terastal Pokémon ex, and Feraligatr as a "single prize" attacker.

So, let's see how it works!

The Deck - Milotic ex and Feraligatr ex!

Milotic ex stands out because of its ability, which protects it against attacks by enemy Terastal Pokémon ex. It is great in the current metagame, as it beats decks like Charizard ex and Dragapult ex, the most popular ones.

Furthermore, its main attack delays your opponent's game plan because it "Sleeps" their active Pokémon. If the enemy Pokémon is "Asleep", they'll have to toss a coin at the beginning of their turn to try to "wake it up". If they fail, they'll have to try again at the end of their turn.

Feraligatr

This Pokémon deals the rest of the damage Milotic ex can't deal.

Feraligatr TEF 41's ability adds 120 extra damage to its main attack, Giant Wave. This way, it will deal 280 damage - but you'll have to put 5 damage counters on Feraligatr itself.

Mimikyu

Mimikyu's ability protects it from Pokémon ex and Pokémon V.

As a result, it is a great attacker. To use its attack, you'll need a Psychic energy, namely Luminous Energy TWM 226. That's how you'll put 7 damage counters on the opponent's active Pokémon and eventually knock them out with the other attackers in this list.

Recursive Pokémon

Budew PRE 4 sabotages your opponent, as it prevents them from using "items" on the following turn. It is a "control" Pokémon.

Relicanth TEF 84's ability is critical, as it lets your evolved Pokémon use attacks of their previous evolutions. In this case, you'll use it on Feraligatr to access Totodile's and Croconaw's attacks.

Munkidori TWM 95's ability lets you move 3 damage counters from your Pokémon to one enemy Pokémon.

This card states that, once during each player's turn, they can look for a "baby" basic Pokémon in their deck (this means Pokémon without any Rule Box), and put them directly on their bench.

ACE SPEC

Loading icon

This card lets you get as many basic Pokémon as you want from your deck, and put them directly on your bench.

Special Energy

This energy is an "ace" up your sleeve in the sense that it can be any type of energy. However, if a Pokémon already has another special energy attached, Luminous Energy becomes a simple colorless energy.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Practically all Pokémon ex in the meta struggle against this deck, either because of Milotic ex (if they're Terastal or Stellar Terastal Pokémon), or because of Mimikyu, if they're Pokémon ex.

It is also great against Snorlax "control".

Cons

So far, the only "single prize" decks that answer this deck well are Ancient Box and United Wings.

Another problem is Lightning Box with Iron Hands ex, which can quickly knock out your Totodiles and get their Prize cards faster - of course, if they manage to set up before you can.

Final Words

This deck is cheap and easy to build, so it proves you don't need a meta deck to win. Creative, it combines the forgotten Feraligatr and Milotic ex's huge potential - it was only a matter of time until someone made these strategies work!
